My name is Diane and I’m a mother of four boys – triplets born in 2002, and a fourth son who was born in 2003. I’m married to the most excellent guy in the world named Charles. He’s the photographer. You’ll see his pictures on the blog. We live in Manhattan. I LOVE to cook and my boys HATE to eat. Isn’t that ironic? One of them eats nothing but peanut butter sandwiches. I’m not kidding. Sometimes he’ll eat some fruit too, but that’s about it other than junk and sweets when he can get them. If you have any tricks for getting picky eaters to eat I’d love to hear them. I have The Sneaky Chef and I make a bunch of her recipes that have hidden vegetables in them, but I’d love to find a way to get my boys to eat delicious, healthful things without the tricks. Anyway, that’s who I am. I hope you enjoy the blog.

    Hello Diane,

I am Ken’s niece and I have heard about you for years now. I hope to meet you sometime! I have a peanut butter sandwich boy too, my brother was raised that way (mom actually just left the peanut butter, honey and bread on a low counter for him to make his own eventually) and he went to MIT, so I hope we are ok, and I always try to rationalize that at least it has protein! His grade school does not allow peanut butter, so we take “soiled” soy butter to school reluctantly…still protein.

I love the cookie recipe…cinnamon and chocolate, very smart I will try it tomorrow!

Take care and thank you for the recipes and for being a great friend to Daddy Wayne (ask Ken about that one 😉

    Diane, what a beautiful website.
I plan on checking it periodically for new recipes.
As always I am amazed at how you manage it all!

You think peanut butter sandwiches are bad!? My brother ate nothing but the middles of Oreo cookies I believe until the day he got married., which is the same day he gave up his “blankie”. He did end up at Goldman-Sachs, now an actor (after retirement). I believe those single-minded eaters have their sights set on bigger and better things, and are much loved by their wives. I think the site is beautiful!!

Have you tried “dips” for fussy eaters? A teensy bit of Red Dip (catsup) is excellent on anything from eggs to steak. White Dip (mayonnaise or ranch dressing) works on most green stuff. Orange Dip (catsup and mayonnaise mixed together) is super on any kind of fish!

    Hey Diane,
Can you share the chocolate zucchini cake recipe? I think it will make a great dessert for the upcoming Jewish Holidays.
    thanks,

Hi Diane – cool site. I have 2 boys, love to cook and often make between 2 and 4 meals a night depending on what we’re all in the mood for. My son’s pediatrician recommended the ‘no thank you bite’ — every night they have to take 1 bite of something that they don’t normally eat. I read somewhere it has to do with their taste buds and that they need to taste something many times before they like it. We don’t do the no thank you bite as often as we should, but they do succumb, and it’s all about training their taste buds – so they’ll get there! good luck

    Hi Cecelia,

I’ll definitely try the ‘no thank you’ bite! Thanks for the great tip.
