What an incredible recipe! I was unsure about the whole wheat flour because my attempts at substituting anything with whole wheat has made it come out hard and dry, but this was delicious. I personally like milk chocolate better than semisweet so I used those instead.

Hi Donna,

I do use white whole wheat flour. I find that it’s a little heavier than regular white flour, but it can be a great substitute, as you point out. It’s much healthier!

Do yoyu use White WW Flour? I get mine at TJs or use King Arthur brand. I sub it 100% for white flour in muffins and often cookies too. No on ever complains or even notices.
